How the spread is figured
Hammer
For each model we take the published sold prices at Ritchie Bros, IronPlanet and RB Marketplace-E over the last 18 months, from anywhere in the lower 48. Lots sold as inoperable are left out.
Landed
To every lot we add the buyer fee from the auction's schedule for that sale date, or the lot's own rate when its terms set one, plus an estimated haul: straight-line miles from the lot to your zip at $3.25 a mile for the first 400 miles and $3.00 after that, $550 minimum.
Spread
We take the median Southeast dealer ask for the same model, years and hours, subtract each lot's landed cost, and show the median of those. Medians, not averages, so one odd sale can't drag the figure.
